4 ways to get ready for spring!

Are you sick and tired of not having the best looking yard in the neighborhood? You worked all spring and summer last year just to have dead spots all over? Try out these simple tips this year and give us some feedback!

#1. Clean the yard of all debris

Debris can do much more damage than causing a sore sight! By taking a few minutes and removing the existing limbs, stones and other items from the lawn you can prevent your lawn being destroyed in that area and your lawn equipment while in use!

#2. Fertilize your grass

Coming from a long winter your grass might need an extra life support! This will give your lawn the leg up and off to a great start. Take a minute and make sure to find the correct fertilizer for your grass and pet needs.

Pro tip: make sure to measure and apply properly. Too much fertilizer can actually "burn" your lawn!

#3. Mow early and mow often

By mowing every 5-7 days in the spring, you stimulate the roots of the grass. This will cause your grass to grow in more full this season. “If you let the grass grow too high and then cut it, it stunts the roots so they can’t reproduce properly,” Ed Laflamme

If you don't have time, we would love to come out and give you a fair quote on your lawn care needs this spring. When it comes down to it, your time at home is much better spent with the family than mowing outside.

#4. Aerate the lawn

Soil compaction is a silent killer in the search for the best lawn in the neighborhood. By aerating the grass early in the spring you are setting your lawn up to receive nutrients better and ultimately grow in stronger!

You can grab a hand aerator at your local hardware store or have us come out and take care of it in the next few weeks!

By implementing these 4 lawn care tips this spring you will save yourself extra work in the summer and have a great looking yard! We would love to help you with all of your landscaping needs in the Corning, Horseheads and Elmira region! If it is cutting the grass, setting up proper drainage... the list goes on and on. We want to help you and your family enjoy your home!
